Bill Troxler, musical director of the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance plays the Dulcimer and talks about the development of the CCA formed 6 or more years ago. It began with the premise of bringing artists to the island, it first started with the Second Saturday Stroll that runs from April through November where people could go from shop to shop, where they could see a demonstration of local artists. Bill started as director by suggesting bringing a music series; he started by inviting his friends, some very talented and well known musicians.
The music series features 3 events that run throughout the year, in the past we have had a trio from Scotland that have won an equal to 6 Grammies, this year we have booked more than 15 artists, visit the many music programs Bill Troxler has booked, the first is the acoustic series, including players inducted in the fast frets hall of fame, plus Eric Clapton and even Itzhak Perlman has performed at our events: “don’t think because we are small we don’t bring big events”. The Chincoteague Cultural Alliance brings world class music to our small island.
You can hear all kinds of music, blue grass, blues, folk music; listen to Bill play the Dulcimer live.
