The Working Vacation

Only three days till the adventure begins. My wife, Shelly and I will be on our way to Chincoteague early Thursday morning for 10 days of fun and work. A working vacation sounds like an oxymoron but the reality is I work for a boss (me) that won’t give me ten days off in a row. So I created a job where I go on vacations and develop tourism websites, and this has become a way to have a lot of fun and find happiness in the Puritan Work Ethic.

I have a partner on Chincoteague, Sam Serio, who has scheduled some activities to practice my new job-hobby, videography. We are going to shoot videos of shop owners and feature their stores then post these on Chincoteague Outlook, next we are going to take videos of vacation rental properties with a tour of the inside and out, finally we plan on capturing some wildlife videos of the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

Why would this interest you? I think there is a need for visitors planning a vacation on Chincoteague Island to have a preview of things to do and places to see. The plan is not to make these videos short commercials but interesting trailers, like previewing a movie, the preview should make you want to see the whole thing.

I’ll be at the Daffodil Festival April 4th and 5th and hopefully at the Decoy Festival the following weekend, maybe I’ll see you there.
